Example Sentences -例文

I wake up in the morning and then I have my lunch in the afternoon and in the evening I relax and get ready for bed.  

When the sun is out, it is called the day and when it gets dark and you can see the moon, this is the night.

When you are talking about the morning you can “this morning” or “yesterday morning” so we know what time you are talking about. The same is true for the evening, but you say “tonight” to talk about evening that is happening later today.

If you want to talk about the past, you say “last night” and if you want to talk about tomorrow you say “tomorrow night”, which would be the next day

If you say you will meet someone at 5pm, you can arrive before this time, at 4:45 …and you will be early.

If you are delayed and arrive after 5pm …at 5:15, then you are late.

We can measure time in a number of different ways. The smallest amount of time is seconds (there are smaller). 60 seconds is 1 minute. When you have 60 minutes, it is 1 hour.

Every day has 24 hours. A week has 7 days, and a month is usually about 4 weeks, 

1 year is 12 months and a decade is made up of 10 years. When you have 100 years, it is called a century.

The 7 days of the week are:  Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday – these are the week days.

Then there is Saturday and Sunday – these are called the weekend.

The 12 months are: January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November and December.

We use the word “holiday” to describe time we are not working, or important events. Christmas is a holiday that happens in December.
