Example Sentences -例文
The two main types of phone you can have are a land line phone (often called a house phone)where you will hear a dial tone when you pick up the phones and the other, which is now more common type, is a mobile phone, such as an Iphone or Samsung.
All phones have a phone number, which you need to call someone.
Mobile phones are expensive, so it is a good idea to protect it by putting it in a phone case, which can both look nice and keep it safe. You can also put a screen protector on the front to stop it getting scratched.
Mobiles also use a battery, so you will need to have a charger to that you can plug into the wall to keep it working.
A mobile works by having a sim card inside, which gives you the data plan and allows you to make calls, although you will need signal for this to work, and if that is not possible, you can connect to wifi and use the internet this way.
When you are not using your phone you will need to lock it, which means you press the button on the top and the screen goes black. To unlock the phone you have to put in your password on the keypad. However, newer phones have finger print unlocking and even facial recognition.
When you get a phone call your phone will make a noise, which is called a ringtone and it will probably vibrate too.
You can turn the volume down and even fully off, which is called “mute” or “silent”.
Your phone will also vibrate and make noise when you get a text message (or line message) and there will be a notification on the screen.
Your phone will also have a camera that you can use to take pictures and selfies, but you can also use this to have video calls, such as face time.
Phones also have apps, such as an Email account, which you will also get notifications about.
A lot of apps are just fun games you can play, but they may also be other useful things like maps or the alarm clock function or the torch, so you can shine a light in the dark.
A lot of people use their phone to access social media, such as instagram or facebook and then you also have apps like YouTube where you can watch videos.
A very popular type of app is a fitness tracker, such as a step counter which can help with your exercise.
You can also use your phone to listen to music and podcasts which is something I do every day.
