Example Sentences -例文

A friend is any one you like and talk to often and have fun with. A neighbour is anyone who lives next door to you. 

We will meet a lot of people at school and many of these will become our friends. We can call these are school friends.

You will also meet a lot of people at work, and some of these will become your friends, but most of these people will be work colleagues. You will also have a boss/manager who you work with.

If you don’t know someone, they are strangers. If someone dislikes you and you are not friends, you are probably their enemy.

When you go to school there will be teachers and students. I am your teacher, and you are my students.

Everybody has some sort of family, and we all have a mother and father, these are called our parents.  Usually we just called these are mum and dad, which is more casual.

You may also have brothers and sister, which are you siblings. If you do not have any, then you are an only child/

Your mum and dad also have their own parents, who are your grandfather and grandmother. We called these your grandparents.

Just like how we can call our parents mum and dad, we have causual names for your grandparentgs, which as nanna, granny and granddad, grandpa.

If your mum and dad have brothers and sisters, their relation to you is Aunt and uncle. If they have children, they will be your cousins.

If your brother or sister has a child, it will mean you become an aunt and uncle to them, and they will be your niece or nephew.

If you get married, you will have either a wife or husband. All of their family will be called your -in laws.  This would mean your wives mum… is now your mother-in law and this works for all their family members. They will say the same thing about your family.

A lot of people own pets and these are seen as part of the family too. The most common pets are cats and dogs and they are treated like children.

  9. Yes, I have a large number of cousins, maybe 10.
  10. I am also an uncle. My sister had a baby, so I am his uncle.
