Do More French Immersion
If you want to make real progress in French you need to be doing immersion. This is simply just taking in as much of the language as you possibly can.
The more reading and listening you do, the more your brain will start to get comfortable with the language. Lots of exposure is going to introduce you to lots of new words as well as help your subconscious see the same grammar patterns over and over again, which will all strengthen your skills over all.
All you need to do is just try and spend as much time listening or watching the TV/ radio/ movies/ music/ the news/ books and websites/podcasts/audio books/ social media.
Just read and watch all you can. It all helps. These are also probably things you do in your native language anyway for pleasure, so now you are a French speaker, it’s time to do these in French.
Chat To Your French Friends
Hopefully you have some French speaking friends. If you do not, you need to get on a language exchange app and start talking to some.
This is another aspect of your life that you are probably already doing in your native language so there is no reason why you can’t be doing this with your French friends.
Of course this will be difficult as a complete beginner, but as you progress you should be doing this more and more.

Talk To Yourself / Think In French
The simplest way to use French throughout your day is to simply start using it with yourself.
You don’t need any books or other people. You just need you and your thoughts, which are going to always be there, so you have no excuse.
You just need either think in your head, or talk out loud as you go about your day. Every time you need to do something, or want to do something, describe it in French. This can really be as simple as saying you are hungry or as complex as describing every little detail about what you are doing.
This will be extremely strange and difficult at first, but as you progress with your French you will find this easier and easier.
Journal Your Day In French
This is pretty similar to the above technique, but instead of narrating your day as you go along, you just wait until the end of the day and write about what you did.
You can do this online at Langcorrect.com where you can basically write anything you want and French speakers will come and read it and correct any mistakes.
Getting into the habit of journaling can be pretty good for you in your native language, it can help you clear your thoughts and reduce your stress. If you are able to practice your French at the same time then this even better.

Do Anything And Everything You Can In French
Hopefully you’ve noticed a theme from the above points, which is basically just try and do anything you can throughout the day in French.
You will find endless opportunities to get some writing, reading, listening and speaking practice in as just part of your normal everyday life, outside of your actual French lessons.
All these little bits of practice may seem pointless, but they really do have an accumulative effect and over the long term they will add up to make you better at French.
I’ve said it a million times on this site; to get a good a language you need to be comfortable with it and all these little bits of French throughout your day are going to make you more comfortable with French.
Conclusion
The more reading, writing, listening and speaking you can do in French, the more beneficial it will be for your over all progression in the language.
Just try and squeeze French into your life anyway you can. The sooner you do this, the sooner French will be a part of your life and you will start to make progress to being fluent.
Using French every day in your life is the key to really getting comfortable with French and the key to success.
