Ian Lawson

Hi, my name is Ian and I am an English teacher from the UK.
イアンです. 私は日本人に英語を教えています.
I am also a language learner and the owner and writer at Reaching Fluency.
I started out by learning French (which I’ve placed on pause for now) and I am currently studying Japanese.
I instantly became addicted to language learning and spent a long time researching how best to do things. A lot of the information on this site is basically just me sharing my experiences and the knowledge I have gained along the way. I have written a lot about language immersion and how to learn French and Japanese.
I would not call myself a polyglot or even fluent in these languages. I am still learning and struggling everyday to get a little bit better, so I can certainly relate to your experiences as a new learner.
However, I am also a certified English (TELF) teacher who does online tutoring, so while I post a lot of information about general language learning on to this site, I have written even more information about learning English.
The English lessons I have posted on this site are aimed towards Japanese speakers, helping them develop their daily conversation skills, but I think anyone could find them helpful, so please do look at them if you are learning English. I also have an YouTube channel where I post a lot of “listening practice” type lessons where I talk about many different things so you can hear the vocabulary being used in a natural way, which again will really help with your daily conversation skills.
Everything you read on this site has been written by me and is from my personal experiences, you can read more about my Anti AI Policy.
